Google has recently been awarded a contract with the US Department of the Interior to provide their Google Apps collaboration suite to the Agencies 90,000+ users, beating out Microsoft and their cloud based Microsoft 365 collaboration suite.
The US Agency is hoping to cut operating costs to the tune of $500 million by replacing their current internal systems with Google Apps for Government. The total contract is stated to be about $35 million spread over a 7 year period.
